Ah the joy of old bookmarks. They sit there patiently until my curent fit of procrastination has me casually click one at random and serendipitously arrive at this little Shakespearian gem. Just what I wanted. Thanks Alamut.
Apparently Astroboy will turn 51 years old on April 7. There's a brief timeline and an episode guide and probably endless ephemera elsewhere. Why do I know this? Today's morning paper has a pic of a 100mm Astroboy statue made of gold and studded with diamonds and other colored rocks valued at $1.4 million. Early viewings of this cartoon probably would explain my penchant for present day anime that perplexes some of my friends.
O and one of the nasty local rags that gets tossed on my lawn each thursday has a headline suggesting "War Scammers Praying on Australian Public". Shouldn't that read for the Australian public???

My first deadline missed. Another assignment, the first for the year will be a day or so late. This always happens but I really need to get real about this stuff. Blame-rationalisation falls on Mrs J who kept hassling me about the newsletter because she had until yesterday to distribute hers before her vacation; the group in council who have resisted all my attempts at organising their material; yesterday's thunderstorm - had to kill the computer didn't I; the damn Iraqis...Get the pattern?>
Along with the reasons above, of course I would have to include most of the day attending to the lawns at M's and the building of another compost heap. ( The original one is aging nicely and I think I'll bag it soon, to free up that bay so I can turn the new lot into it - thanks for asking! ) And mad Ms J came over and trimmed the weeds out front of my own place. The neighbors will be pleased. All this reminds me, Graham posted a link to the dullest blog in the world. Funny, it reads a lot like this one. Or not so - one of the things that attracts me about this medium is its very mundane nature. It reassures me to hear that someone on the other side of the world is having trouble with an appliance or a boyfriend, is knitting, being stalked by their plumbing, is pissed off with their council. Too much earnestness is expended by blogsters self-consciously justifying their "new media" take on Issues they present and which for the most part are gleaned from "old media" anyway. I do, however like some of these ones - the best are like good columnists, others are very funny - but there are few who tackle what could be categorised as conventional "news" stories by breaking original material. The ones who do seem to all fit into geeky categories and thus have a limited and pretty insular audience. And others chat about their cats.
